MEME Gallery and Team Screen of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston present “For Your Consideration”, a group exhibition that explores the medium of silkscreen as an artistic means of expressing social change and justices.

Silkscreen has a unique place in the history of socially-conscious / political art largely due to its ability to produce multiples, allowing the mass distribution of ideas and images beyond the confinement of conventional gallery context. Moreover, with the relative simplicity of printing process as well as the low cost of overall production, silkscreen has long been associated with the DIY ethic, offering an alternative to the mainstream consumer culture dominated by global corporate conglomerates. For this exhibition, participating artists, all of whom are currently enrolled in various degree programs at SMFA, are asked to explore such aspects of silkscreen by producing limited-edition posters and T-shirts expressing their thoughts on a wide range of social issues that they have chosen. Through this project, the artists call for the viewers to reflect upon their own places in the midst of many conflicting realities of todayʼs world.

Artists: Ali White; Andrea Nickerson; Canbra Hodsdon; Colette Chretien; Jane Cogger, Kelsey Schur; Lilah Brander; Liz Vuong; Max Bready; Meaghan Mahoney, Celie Falieres; Dayna Safferstein; Devon Fox; Emily Lombardo; Eszter Sapi; Ingrid Sanchez; Michele Smolensky, Noah Mayrand; Peter Calderwood; Quinn Welch, and Vinicius Sanchez.
