encontracosas real time weavings

encontracosas is a project of collecting objects and materials from the street that was formed in Valparaíso, Chile by Liz Munsell and Julio Lamilla in 2006. By using only found and recycled matter in their work, encontracosas aims to deconstruct hierarchal and commercial value systems, working toward the creation of horizontal relationships in ‘real time’.

In MEME, encontracosas: real time weavings uses installation and improvisation to form paths, webs, ensembles and gathering points made from found materials and sounds, creating new axes of ‘meeting/finding’ each other and things in space. The exhibit explores the relationship between collection, accumulation, migration and the present continuous tense, with the expectation of developing new uses and experiences with traversed objects and paths.

encontracosas invites participants in the gallery opening January 23rd to bring their own found objects to MEME and incorporate them into this mutable and participative installation.

Al usar solamente objetos encontrados y reciclados, encontracosas intenta deconstruir sistemas de valores comerciales y jerárquicos, trabajando hacia la construcción de relaciones horizontales en tiempo real.

En MEME, encontracosas: tramaciones en tiempo real utiliza la instalación y la improvisación para formar senderos, redes, ensambles y puntos de unión, creando nuevos ejes de encontrarse en el espacio asignado. La exhibición explora la relación entre recolección, acumulación, migración y el presente continuo, con la expectación de desarrollar nuevos usos y experiencias con objetos y caminos ya atravesados.
